A Day of HOPE (Health Ownership, Prevention & Education)

Day of Hope, a day to Honor those lost to Overdose. A Day for Health Ownership, Prevention, and Education. A Day of celebration of life and recovery!! On Thursday, August 31st we attended the 3rd annual Day of Hope Event held at Adrian Farmer’s Market. Throughout the Event, we heard testimonials from people who have lost loved ones, recovery success stories, and hung t-shirts every five (5) minutes to represent Americans dying from Drug Overdose every day. Community resources, education, Narcan was available, as well as massages, and guided meditation. Health Fredrick FMC’s SUD Supervisor said “It was nice to be in the moment and focusing on breathwork. The warm-scented masks that they provided during the session was calming as well.” Jessie Monahan SUD BHT also represented FMC, she reports “It's nice to see the community in Lenawee County come together to educate on what resources are available for those in need of behavioral health and/or substance use treatment. Day of Hope allows those the ability to be seen, heard, and supported without judgment. A way to remember and honor lost loved ones, while simultaneously gaining a support system to help people grieve and feel accepted.” Peer Support Specialist Vincent Vescelius was in attendance as well.
