Family Medical Center Expands Food Support Across Lenawee & Monroe Counties!
With nearly 26,000 local residents relying on SNAP benefits, Family Medical Center of Michigan (FMC) is stepping up to fight food insecurity through strong partnerships in both Lenawee and Monroe Counties.
In Lenawee County, FMC and City of Refuge Ministries International have provided more than 204,000 pounds of food to over 3,300 individuals, including hundreds of FMC patients. To meet growing needs, City of Refuge will open a new food pantry on Nov.18th at FMC Adrian (1200 N. Main St.) to help even more families.
In Monroe County, FMC partners with Monroe County Opportunity Program (MCOP) to operate food pantries at FMC’s Temperance and Monroe clinics — distributing over 367,000 pounds of food in the past year. FMC also donated $15,000 to MCOP’s Opportunity Center and $2,000 to the United Way of Lenawee & Monroe Counties to strengthen local food programs.
“This is what community looks like—neighbors helping neighbors,” said Ed Larkins, CEO of FMC. “Food is the foundation of health, and we’re proud to work with so many great partners who share that belief.”
Together, we’re building a healthier, hunger-free community.
