Lunch & Learn
Family Medical Center of Michigan participated in our 2nd Lunch & Learn at The Opportunity Center at ALCC on Monday, April 25th, 2022. FMC Medical Director, Dr. Jadia, presented on Hypertension. Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is a condition in which the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high. The term Hypertension is defined as blood pressure above 130/80. Normal blood pressure is less than 120/80. Dr. Jadia spoke about risk factors to developing Hypertension which can include family history, age, race, weight, inactive lifestyle, high salt diet, stress, smoking, excess alcohol use, medication side effects, and other medical conditions. Dr. Jadia noted that symptoms may or may not occur. Some associated symptoms of Hypertension can include headache, fatigue, vision changes, confusion, and shortness of breath. Dr. Jadia mentioned untreated Hypertension can potentially cause a heart attack, stroke, or kidney disease. The good news is that Hypertension is treatable! Further evaluation with your health care provider is recommended to determine what lifestyle, medication, or other options are best suited for your health care needs. We would like to thank everyone who attended the April Lunch & Learn. We will see you again on May 16th, 2022, when Dr. Jadia will talk about Diabetes.
