Going On Now
FMC three community workers, Susan Wise, Felicia Lawson, and Natasha Brown, have the responsibility to support Medicaid patients with chronic health conditions as well assist patients in connecting with vital medical and social services in the community. They do this by reaching out to patients via phone call and mail.
In 2023 FMCs community health workers rank #1 among 8 medium-sized health care centers in the state in total outreaches (11,360), the most phone outreaches (5,147), second highest number of mail outreaches (2,011), and the most research completed (4,075).
Hats off to Susan, Felicia and Natasha for their outstanding efforts in again having FMC ranked number one in the state!!

Family Medical Center Recognized for Hypertension Control
TEMPERANCE — Family Medical Center (FMC) of Michigan in Temperance was recently named a Million Hearts Hypertension Control Champion, a national initiative co-led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
We've secured grants from MDHHS to launch three student health centers in schools:
- Wager Middle School, Carleton, MI
- Springbrook Middle School, Adrian, MI
- Hudson Center for Science and Industry (CSI), Hudson, MI
Initially offering primary medical and behavioral health services, with potential for future dental services. Our goal is to provide convenient healthcare, minimizing school absences and allowing parents flexible participation. Centers aim to reduce absenteeism, improve overall health, and enhance academic performance. Services include well-child checks, treatment for illnesses, chronic disease management, immunizations, vaccinations, and sports physicals.

Lisa Worley, Temperance Reception and Clinic Coordinator was honored by the Michigan Primary Care Association on October 30th at 12 noon in the Temperance Carl Van Wert Conference Room.
Each year MPCA recognizes individuals who are employed at health centers who have contributed to the success of the community health centers movement.
Lisa is one of nine individuals in the state of Michigan who received the MPCA Distinguished Service Award this year! MPCA’s Ann Scott was on hand along with some of our Board Members, Dave Brown, Burt Fenby, Kathy Busen, and Elaine Robson to help honor Lisa for this very special award.
Lisa has worked for Family Medical Center for over 22 years. She started as an MA for Temperance. We are so proud that Lisa is being recognized for her professional achievements and dedicated service with this very special MPCA Distinguished Service Award.
The Builder's Club at Hudson Schools hosted Hudson Youth Mental Health Day. FMC plays a heavy role with bring present, planning activities, giving supplies, etc. The Builder's Club won a grant from the Lenawee Community Foundation to expand their Day. FMC was invited to support and represent. The unique thing about this is that no one applied for the grant. Word of mouth reached the ears of the Community Foundation, and they loved what the Builder's Club was doing so much, that they used extra grant money to surprise them with the award. FMC’s Alexa Anderson represented us for this special Event!
Also, I noticed that you haven’t been moving the stories I have you take off the going on now ticker. I’d really like all stories to be on the site. Can we re-ad them? National Health Center week blurbs & pics aren’t there.
